Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (9/7/2019) – Chestnut Hill College welcomed East Stroudsburg University to Victory Field for today's season opener. The Griffins offered the contest's initial shot just 3:13 after kickoff with a blocked strike from sophomore forward
Maddie Jimenez (Bensalem, Pa.). Unfortunately, it accounted for one fourth of the Scarlet and Gold's chances in an eventual 6-0 loss to the Warriors.
East Stroudsburg University (1-0) capitalized on a 17-2 first half shot advantage at 9:28, when a hand ball in the box provided senior defender Jessica Woodbyrne (Stony Creek, Ontario) with a free kick. She converted to give the Warriors an early 1-0 advantage over Chestnut Hill College (0-1). The Griffins delayed East Stroudsburg University's next tally to the second half, but there the Warriors' continued pressure overwhelmed the Scarlet and Gold to a 6-0 end.
East Stroudsburg University finished with a 35-4 shot advantage; junior midfielder Haley Skove (Lawrenceville, N.J.) led with nine shots and was one of six different Warriors to find the net. Sophomore goalkeeper Mauri Jackson (Mount Royal, N.J.) (1-0) recorded one save in the win. It came on an early second-half (55:46) strike from sophomore midfielder
Madison Taylor (Bensalem, Pa.). Senior defender
Madison Slemmer (Hatboro, Pa.) and junior forward
Gab Fanfarillo (Glassboro, N.J.) provided the other two Chestnut Hill College shots. In goal, junior
Amanda Ianniciello (Milton, Ontario) (0-1) made nine saves in the loss.
