Waterbury, Conn. - (1/25/2020) – Today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest began with a pair of free throws from
sophomore guard
Trevonn Pitts (Wyncote, Pa.) (2-0, 19:45), but Post University led for a majority of the first half before claiming a 109-71 victory. The Eagles used a 65-36 rebounding advantage and 22 Griffin turnovers to separate. Pitts led Chestnut College with 14 points, five rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and a steal.
After Pitts' opening free throws, Post University (13-6, 7-3) paced
Chestnut Hill College (3-16, 3-7) to an 18-8 (16:28) spread. The Griffins responded to the Eagle run with a 12-2 streak that evened the score at 20-20 (12:24) on a three-point basket from freshman guard
Ahmad Bickley (Philadelphia, Pa.). Six minutes later (6:17), sophomore forward
Keyon Butler (Chester, Pa.) converted the first of two free throws to keep the contest remained tied, 33-33. Unfortunately, that was the last time the affair knotted as Post University outscored the Griffins 19-4 before halftime, 52-37, and 57-34 after it to record a 109-71 win.
Junior Jonathan Duvivier (Brockton, Mass.) came off the Post University bench to lead the Eagles with 28 points, four rebounds, an assist, and a steal. An 18-point, 14-rebound double-double from senior guard Marcus Johnson (Evanston, Ill.) helped. As did 21 points from senior guard Savion Boissard (Walden, N.Y.) and 14 rebounds from sophomore forward Abdul–Basit Ajia (Pawtucket, R.I.).
Pitts was 4-of-7 (.571) from the field and 6-of-7 (.857) from the free throw line, while Bickley and freshman guard
Scottie Spann Jr. (Philadelphia, Pa.) were both 5-of-10 (.500) from the floor in matching 12-point performance. Bickley also recorded three rebounds, an assist, and a steal, while Spann added two rebounds, an assist, and a steal. Off the Scarlet and Gold bench, sophomore forward
Amir Warrick (Washington, DC) contributed eight points, five rebounds, a block, and a steal.
Chestnut Hill College returns to Sorgenti Arena on Wednesday, January 29, when they host Georgian Court University in an 8:00 p.m. contest.
