PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (02/08/2020) – Chestnut Hill College men's basketball dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to Nyack College, 96-73, on Saturday afternoon. The Griffins had four players in double figures, but it was not enough to keep up with a Warriors team that grabbed a hold of the game from the opening tipoff.
Nyack College (11-11, 6-8) jumped out to a double figure lead early in the first half and were up by as many as 14 midway through the period before the Griffins (4-19, 4-10) could finally get their offense going. Chestnut Hill College showed some life to make it a five-point game just before the half, but a 10-0 Warriors run in the final three minutes of play built a solid 47-32 cushion for Nyack to take into the break.
The Scarlet and Gold never found its footing in the second half. The team could not pull the deficit under 11 points and a 53 percent second half shooting clip from the Warriors helped them leap out to a huge lead.
Freshman guard
Scottie Spann Jr. (Philadelphia, Pa.) had a team-high 16 points. Freshman guard
Ahmad Bickley (Philadelphia, Pa.) matched his season-high with 14 points, while sophomore guard
Trevonn Pitts (Wyncote, Pa.) and sophomore forward
Keyon Butler (Chester, Pa.) rounded out the team's double figure scorers with 12 points each.
Butler snagged a team-high six rebounds. Bickley led the Griffins with five assists. Spann Jr. and Pitts tallied team-highs with two steals each. Making his first start since January 5, sophomore guard
Juston Bailey (Riverdale, Md.) knocked down two of his team's four three-pointers to finish the game with six points.
The Griffins return to action on the road Saturday, February 15 at 3 p.m. against Bloomfield College.
