Griffins Cruise in Second Half for Win over Molloy College

LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. (3/11/2020) -- Chestnut Hill College men's lacrosse (5-1) earned its third straight win in an 18-9 decision over Molloy College on Wednesday night. The Griffins jumped ahead early and used a nine-point outing from junior attackman Carson Rees (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia) to continue their success in non-conference play.

The Scarlet and Gold finished the opening quarter on a 4-0 run with two goals from junior attackman Scott Wilden (Wexford, Pa.) to lead by two. Another 4-0 run to open the second quarter put some space between the Griffins and Lions. Wilden and Rees went into the half with three goals each to put their team ahead 10-6.

Chestnut Hill College kickstarted its second half with a 3-0 run, which opened up the team's largest lead of the game to that point. Despite a two-goal Molloy College run to end the third quarter, the Griffins solidified their advantage with a 5-1 fourth quarter run to earn the win.

Alongside Rees and Wilden, who scored six and three goals, respectively, sophomore defenseman P.J. Spernal (Jackson, N.J.) and junior attackman Maurice Kelly (Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta) both had multi-goal games.

Junior midfielder Ben Revak (Aston, Pa.) had a game-high five assists to finish the matchup with six points. Rees was second on the team with three assists, playing a role in half of the team's goals. Kelly and junior attackman J.R. Howell (East Meadow, N.Y.) also had multi-assist games.

Sophomore goalie Jake Miller (Castle Rock, Colo.) tallied a season-high 22 saves to keep opponents' scoring totals in single digits for the fourth time this season and third game in a row.

Chestnut Hill College returns to action at noon on Saturday, March 14 in a home matchup with Florida Southern College.
