Comeback Effort Falls Short as Griffins Fall to Golden Falcons

The Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team fought hard but could not overcome a two-goal first half deficit as they lost to Felician University 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Victory Field #1 in Plymouth meeting, Pennsylvania.

The Griffins fall to 0-7-3 overall and 0-4-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matches.  Felician improves to 4-5 overall and 3-2 in league play.

The Golden Falcons took an early 1-0 lead with a goal by Xabier Aizpuru in the 8th minute and added a second goal in the 34th minute.

Lucas de Sa (Bahia Brazil)  brought the Griffins back within one in the 52nd minute with a dribbler into the net following a cross from Andrey McIntyre (Hanover, Jamaica).  It was de Sa's third goal of the season.

The Griffins continued to push play in the offensive zone in an attempt to gain the equalizer, with their best opportunity coming in the 83rd minute.  McIntyre added a shot which was stopped by the Felician goalkeeper and rebounded back to the foot of Conor Seeley (Philadelphia, Pa.) who launched a hard shot that was cleared at the goal line by a Felician defender.  CHC added one more shot on goal s time was expiring.

Chestnut Hill goalkeeper Bryce Fadako (Philadelphia, Pa.) faced four shots on goal recording two saves.

McIntyre had three of the Griffins 11 shots (two no goal) while de Sa, Seeley and Miguel Marra (Ossining, N.Y.) had two shots apiece.  Chestnut Hill outshot Felician 11-5 for the game and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Chestnut Hill College is back in action on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 when they travel to Buffalo, New York to take on Daemen College in a non-conference regional match.
