The Chestnut Hill Men's Soccer team played a hard-fought match Saturday afternoon at Victory Field #1 in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania losing to Post University 1-0.
The Griffins fall to 1-12-3 overall and 1-8-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) games while Post improves to 7-5-1 overall and 7-2 in league play.
The two teams played a scoreless first half with the Griffins getting the first opportunity in the game to score as
Lucho Narcisi got off a clean shot that was stopped by the Post goalkeeper in the 11
th minute.
The Chestnut Hill defense held strong throughout the half as did CHC goalkeeper
Mahmoud Mahmoud who stopped five shots in the period to keep the game scoreless as the second half began.
Andrey McIntyre nearly broke the ice on a near breakaway early in the second period but Post goalkeeper David Mollenthiel made a diving save, keeping the Griffins off the board.
Midway through the half Post scored to take a 1-0 lead, with Riccardo Gugliemini putting past Mahmoud after receiving a pass on a corner kick in the 69
th minute. Post added a shot on goal in the 72
nd minute which was their last of the game.
Mahmoud finished the game with seven saves in taking the loss in net. Chestnut Hill finished the game with three total shots (two on goal) while the Eagles finished with 12 (eight on goal).
The Chestnut Hill men's soccer team returns to action for their final road game of the season on November 2, 2021 when they travel to face Wilmington University. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
