The Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball team got back on the winning track with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-20) sweep of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division Leader Bloomfield College Saturday afternoon at the Sorgenti Arena.
Chestnut Hill has now won five of their last six matches and improves to 7-12 overall and 4-8 in CACC games. The Bears fall to 8-7 overall and 7-5 in league play.
Four different players on the Griffins squad recorded five or more kills on the afternoon, led by
Henielys Ramos and
Erika Dubosky who had nine kills apiece.Â
Lauren Lipinski added seven while
Angela April tallied five.  Setting the offense for Chestnut Hill was
Mia Caporellie who recorded 33 assists on the afternoon.Â
Kerri Sullivan recorded four of the team's six service aces.
On the defensive side, four players recorded at least six digs in the match led by Ramos who had a match-high 18. Dubosky added eight while
Bianca Diaz and
Mikayla Grimes had six apiece. April led the team with a match-high four blocks while Caporellie added three.
Chestnut Hill took an early two-point lead in the first set, 7-5 only to see the bears reverse the difference with a 5-1 run to lead 10-8. The Griffins scored the next four points, capped by a Lipinski kill to regain the lead 12-10 and opened the gap with an 8-3 run to lead 20-13. Dubosky had three kills over the course of the run.  Bloomfield rallied back to cut the lead in half 21-17 before committing four errors over the next eight rallies to give the Griffins a 25-21 set win and a 1-0 lead in the match.
An 8-3 run by the Griffins opened the seconds set with Sullivan notching two aces. Bloomfield battled back within one 10-9 before Chestnut Hill opened the lead back up with a 6-1 spurt to lead 16-10. Bloomfield would come back within three twice, the last at 24-21 before the Griffins forced an attack error to win the set, 25-21 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Griffins led wire-to-wire in the third set, opening an early four-point lead 9-5 following a Caporellie kill.  Ramos gave the Griffins their biggest lead of the set at 14-7 with a kill before Bloomfield charged back to pull within one at 20-19 and again at 21-20. Chestnut Hill then closed out the match with four straight points which included kills from
Leah Miller and Lipinski to win the set 25-20 and the match 3-0.
The Chestnut Hill Women's Volleyball team returns to action on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 when they host South Division leader Holy Family University at Sorgenti Arena. The Tigers are currently 14-0 in league games. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
