Erika Dubosky recorded 12 kills without an attack error while four of her teammates had five or more kills apiece as the Chestnut Hill College Women's Volleyball team honored their seniors and won their final game of the 2021 season, 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-17) over Nyack College Saturday afternoon at Sorgenti Arena.
The Griffins finished the season with an 8-17 mark overall and 5-13 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Â games.
Dubosky's 12 kills came on 20 attack attempts for a .600 attack percentage. She becomes just the third player in program history to hit .600 or better in a single match and the second to do so at home. She joins Rachel Biro who broke the .600 mark in a match at Felician in October 2013 and Corinne Kalala who accomplished the feat twice in 2019 (at Goldey-Beacom and home vs. Post)as the only players to achieve this accomplishment.
Henielys Ramos added nine kills while senior
Lauren Lipinski and freshman
Mikayla Grimes had six apiece.Â
Angela April chipped in five kills.
Lipinski was one of three seniors recognized by the Athletic Department in a brief ceremony prior to the start of the match. She was playing in her 78
th match as a Griffin and her six kills gives her 482 for her career, ranking 11
th on the Griffins all time kills list.Â
Seniors
Kerri Sullivan and
Vanessa Caballero were also honored prior to the game. Sullivan added a service ace to her career total, finishing with 107 in 78 matches, sixth best in program history. Â
Caballero led the Griffins with 19 digs on the afternoon, her tenth match this season recording double figures for digs and giving her 220 for the season.
Mia Caporellie joined Caballero with 14 digs on the afternoon and also let the team with 27 assists setting the Griffin offense to mark her 14
th double-double on the season.   Ramos added nine digs while Lipinski recorded eight. April and Dubosky had three blocks apiece.
The Griffins led wire-to-wire in the opening set, jumping out to a 6-0 lead before the Warriors put a point on the board. Nyack closed within 9-5 before Chestnut Hill produced an 11-4 run to take a commanding 20-9 lead. Nyack could only shave two points off the lead before a kill from Dubosky followed by two Nyack errors sealed the 25-13 win and gave the Griffins a 1-0 lead.
A 7-2 run early in the second set by the Griffins broke a 2-2 tie and put Chestnut Hill in control with a 9-4 lead. The Warriors countered with three straight points to close within two 9-7 but another solid stretch of play by the Griffins resulted in a 10-2 run and a double-digit, 19-9 lead. Ramos notched three kills and Dubosky two during the run with CHC's other five points coming off Nyack errors. Dubosky closed out the set with two kills in the final three rallies as the Griffins won 25-14 and took a 2-0 lead in the match.
Nyack jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the third set. Chestnut Hill countered with another big rally, outscoring Nyack 9-2 with four different players recording kills to take an 11-6 lead. Nyack closed within two 11-9 before the Griffins ran off four straight points to increase their lead to 15-9. Nyack would get no closer the rest of the match with Sullivan's ace and one final kill from Dubosky providing the final two points for the Griffins to win the set 25-17 and the match 3-0.
