Pace University rallied late in the second half to hand the Chestnut Hill College Men's Basketball team a 66-61 loss in the final game of the East Region Challenge at the Goldstein Center in Pleasantville, New York Sunday afternoon.
The Griffins fall to 0-2 on the season.
Three players reached double figures for the Griffins, led by
Joseph Iraldi's 17 points (7-14 FG).Â
Nigel Haughton added 12 points while
Conor Regan chipped in ten. Regan and Haughton also led Chestnut Hill with seven rebounds apiece.
The Griffins led by as many as ten points during the second half, before an 8-2 run by the Setters cut the Griffins lead to four 52-48 with 9:27 left. Iraldi followed with a three pointer to push CHC's lead back up to seven 55-48. Pace followed with an 11-3 run to take their first lead of the game and increased it to three points 61-58 with 3:06 left in the game.  The Griffins would come as close as two following an
Amir Warrick free throw at the 1:39 mark before the Setters pulled away for the five-point win.
Chestnut Hill took a 38-30 lead at halftime by shooting 50% from the field including making eight of 13 shots from beyond the arc. The second half however was a different story as the Griffins shot 32% from the field and made just three field goals in the final ten minutes of action, including Iraldi's three-point bucket (the Griffins only three pointer of the second half).
The Chestnut Hill Men's Basketball Team returns to action on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 when they host Bloomsburg University. Tipoff at Sorgenti Arena is set for 7:00 p.m.
