Cebulski Sets Return Record in Season Ending Loss to Spartans

Lonnie Cebulski ran the opening kickoff back for a touchdown and Hank Gallacher added a field goal as the Chestnut Hill college Sprint Football team closed out their season Saturday afternoon with a 20-10 loss to Saint Thomas Aquinas College in Hillburn, New York.

The Griffins finish the season with a 1-6 record.  STAC finishes with a 2-5 mark.

Cebulski ran the opening kick back 86 yards for the score and his fourth touchdown of the season.  Cebulski's 86 yard return is the longest in program history  breaking the old record of 81 yards set by Ricky Robinson against Cornell in 2018.

The Spartans came back with a field goal later in the first quarter before Gallacher connected on 37-yard field goal in the opening minute of the second quarter, capping an 18 play 72 yard drive, making the score 10-3.

STAC made the score 10-6 with their second field goal of the game as time expired in the second quarter.  The Spartans scored two unanswered touchdowns in the second half to round out the scoring and secure the 20-10 win.

Cebulski also caught three passes for 28 yards and finished the day with 121 all-purpose yards, 94 of them on kick returns.  Malachi Jones led the Griffins with 48 yards rushing.  Carmen Dio completed six of 15 passes for 45 yards.

Meech Laylor led all players with 13 tackles.  Luke Attanasi, Jacob Orrick and Larry Fonville III each had a sack while Fonville also recovered two fumbles.

The Chestnut Hill College Sprint Football team's 2021 season has concluded.
