Griffins Fall to Hawks in Restart, Naje Connor Collects Win CHC Debut

Box Score Ambler, Pa. - (2/20/2021) – For the first time since March 9, 2020, the Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team engaged in competition. The restart brought the Griffins to Ambler, Pennsylvania's Upper Dublin Sports Center, where they lost to St. Joseph's University by a 6-1 final. Freshman Alani Naje Connor (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) was the lone Griffin to record a victory, doing so in her Scarlet and Gold debut with a 5-7, 6-4, 10-7, comeback win at number five singles.
 
The opening doubles round saw St. Joseph's University (2-0) defeat Chestnut Hill College (0-1) in order as the Hawks scored uninterrupted victories in the first (6-1), second (6-1), and third (6-4) team flights. St. Joseph's University carried their winning ways into singles play, where the deficit reached 6-0 before Naje Connor concluded the match with her win at number five singles. Her fellow classmates, freshmen Annika Wise and Lottie Allin (Darby, England) also enjoyed solid debuts with respective 6-2, 6-4, and 6-4, 6-1, losses at number three and number four singles.
 
Chestnut Hill College returns to action on Saturday, March 13, when they host Loyola University (Md.) in a 12:00 p.m. dual match.
