New Haven, Conn. - (2/24/2021) – With their first conference match scheduled for exactly three weeks from today, Wednesday, February 24, Chestnut Hill College was forecasted for a third-place finish (17 Total Points) in the
2020-2021 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches Poll. The league's head coaches place perennial powerhouse, Concordia College (NY) in first place, as they garnered five of the six possible first-place votes and totaled 25 points to pace a field that also included Thomas Jefferson University (18), the Griffins, the University of the Sciences (USciences) (16 Total Points, 1 First-Place Vote), Dominican College (9), and Caldwell University (5).

Concordia College (NY) returns a complete All-CACC lineup from their 2019 championship campaign, including sophomore Ebba Rosberg (Stockholm, Sweden) who won the 2019 CACC Player and Rookie of the Year awards with a 14-1 record as the Clippers' number one singles player and an 11-4 record competing at number two doubles. Despite the loss of program star Karla Miletic, USciences stole the remaining first-place vote from Concordia College (NY). The Devils finished the 2019-2020 season with an 8-7 overall mark and a 7-2 CACC record.
An October-19, 4-2 league victory at Wilmington University secured Chestnut Hill College the #5 seed and their first CACC Women's Tennis Championship Tournament appearance since the 2015-2016 season. Unfortunately, after the Scarlet and Gold won the doubles point, #4 Jefferson University won all but number one singles to advance by a 4-2 final. In the 2020-2021 spring season, the Griffins will compete with a young roster that includes sophomore
Carlota Garcia Arguelles (Madrid, Spain) and four talented freshmen;
Lottie Allin (Darby, England),
Alani Naje Connor (Mount Vernon, N.Y.),
Nele Haag (Tauberbischofsheim, Germany), and
Annika Wise. Upperclassmen, senior
Mariana Sanchez (Trenton, N.J.) and junior
Gianna Vassalluzzo (Newton, Pa.) with provide the leadership for a 12-match schedule kicks off with a pair of matches against National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I opponents in St. Joseph's University (L, 1-6 on February 20) and Loyola University (Md.).
