Orangeburg, N.Y. - (3/21/2021) – Despite forfeiting number three doubles, Chestnut Hill College secured the team point with wins in the first (6-1) and second (6-4) flights. The point proved crucial as the Griffins split singles play with Dominican College and in doing so, recorded their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory of the season; 4-3. Junior
Tom Pitchley (London, England), senior
Kiki Dagneaux (Saint-Gervasy, France), and freshman
Joao Sousa (Pontevedra, Spain) each played a role in two Scarlet and Gold points as they provided the necessary individual victories to outlast the Chargers.
Pitchley teamed with freshman
Domagoj Dugandzic (Stuttgart, Germany) for a 6-1 Chestnut Hill College (2-1, 1-0) win at number one doubles. The Scarlet and Gold secured the team point with the follow-up win in the second flight, 6-4; Sousa and Dagneaux provided the point there.
With the team point in hand, the Griffins had the edge they needed to defeat Dominican College (0-1, 0-1). The required singles victories came in the top three individual flights; Pitchley won number one singles (7-6, 6-0), Dagneaux win number two singles (6-0, 6-1), and Sousa (6-4, 6-4).
