Scarlet and Gold Suffers CACC Setback Versus Holy Family University

Bryn Athyn, Pa. - (3/28/2021) – Nearing the close of their 2021 Spring Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular season schedule, Chestnut Hill College met Holy Family University at Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania's General Ronald K. Nelson Field for this evening's league contest. The Tigers proved to be tough competition as Holy Family University used four early goals to surpass the Scarlet and Golf by a 5-0 measure. Freshman midfielder Kayla Dougherty (Williamstown, N.J.) recorded two of the Griffins' three shots, while senior goalkeeper Amanda Ianniciello (Milton, Ontario)  made seven saves in the loss (1-5).

Holy Family University (3-0-1, 3-0-1) found early goals against Chestnut Hill College (1-5, 1-5) with the first coming on a right cross at 3:15 (1-0), the second at 4:04 (2-0), a third at 10:27 (3-0), and a fourth on a rebound at 17:10, 4-0. Dougherty and junior defender Alyssa Fournier (Sanford, Fla.) offered the Griffins' only shots of the frame; the former putting one on goal at 5:44 and the latter sending right wide shortly after entering the fray (38:25).

Chestnut Hill College limited the Tigers to seven second-half shots. The result was just a single Holy Family University goal, which came a little less the 10 minutes into the closing period, 5-0 (64:12). Dougherty's second shot came earlier (50:19), but did not find its way past freshman goalkeeper Ceili' Courduff (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.).

Courduff relieved junior Alayna McSeed (Bensalem, Pa.) at halftime; McSeed earned the win (1-0) with her single first-half save. Holy Family University was led by freshman Gianna Monaco (Philadelphia, Pa.), who recorded a pair of goals on four shots and an assist.

Chestnut Hill College concludes their 2021 Spring CACC regular season on Tuesday, March 30, when they visit Dominican College for a 2:00 p.m. kickoff.
