Griffins Close CACC Season With Loss at Dominican College

Orangeburg, N.Y. - (3/30/2021) – Chestnut Hill College concluded their 2021 Spring Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule with this afternoon's contest at Dominican College. The Chargers scored the first goal of the game just before the eight-minute mark (1-0, 7:56) and owned a 2-0 halftime advantage before retiring the Griffins with a four-goal second half, 6-0. Junior forward Maddie Jimenez (Bensalem, Pa.) and freshman defender Caitlin Geiger (Philadelphia, Pa.) each recorded four shots for the Scarlet and Gold, while senior goalkeeper Amanda Ianniciello (Milton, Ontario) made nine saves in the loss (1-6).

Dominican College (3-2-1, 3-2-1) pressured Chestnut Hill College (1-6, 1-6) off the opening kickoff, testing Ianniciello with their first shot, and eventually scoring on a well-played forward pass at 7:56, 1-0. The Griffins delayed the Chargers' next advance, with a couple home shots sailing wide and several more coming to a stop in Ianniciello's hands before the deficit grew to 2-0 (37:05).

Unfortunately, Dominican College added four second-half goals to secure the CACC win. Senior forward Sarah Wood (Uniondale, N.Y.) led the Chargers with two goals and an assist. In goal, senior Lauren Buchanan (Union, N.J.) earned the win (3-2-1, 45:54), but her classmate Sophia Das Neves (Newark, N.J.) made all three of Dominican College's saves.

Chestnut Hill College awaits the decisions of remaining CACC contests for seeding in the upcoming 2021 CACC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament (April 5, 8, 10).
