Madyson Schwartz (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored the first goal (1-0, 25:26) of today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest versus Post University and scored back-to-back tallies (15:21, 14:55) to keep the contest tied midway through the opening period, 3-3 (14:55). Unfortunately, the Eagles closed the first half with a 6-1 run; 9-4, and finished off the Griffins with a 6-0 second half, 15-4. Schwartz scored all four of the Scarlet and Gold's goals; doing so on seven shots and while recovering four draw controls.
Schwartz got Chestnut Hill College (0-6, 0-4) on the scoreboard with 25:26 remaining in the first half, 1-0, but a 3-0 Post University (3-1, 3-1) gave the visitors the early advantage. The Griffins evened the score with consecutive Schwartz scores, the first coming off the feed of sophomore midfielder
Ashley Watson (Bristol, Conn.), 3-2 (15:21), and the second on a pass from sophomore midfielder
Danielle Vassallo (Hicksville, N.Y.), 3-3 (14:55). Another 3-0 Eagle separated the visitors before Schwartz scored her third goal, 6-4 (8:51). Unfortunately, Post University scored three more times before halftime, 9-4, and shut the Griffins out in a six-goal second half, 15-4.
Sophomore attack Morgan Cassiliano (Staten Island, N.Y.) led Post University with five points (4 goals, 1 assist), seven ground balls, and a caused turnover. She was best supported by freshman midfielder Cara DiSefano (Neptune, N.J.), who offered three goals, three ground balls, five draws, and two caused turnovers. In goal, sophomore Christiana Badaracco (Deer Park, N.Y.) recorded three saves, a ground ball, and a caused turnover in the win (3-1).
For Chestnut Hill College, Vassallo added four ground balls to her assist, while Watson complimented her helper with a caused turnover. Senior midfielder
Gab Fanfarillo (Glassboro, N.J.) and freshman midfielder
Molly Killion (Philadelphia, Pa.) were effective; the former finished with five ground balls, three draws, and a caused turnover, while the latter three ground balls, a draw, and three caused turnovers. In goal, sophomore
Mel Amador (Cape May, N.J.) totaled 15 saves and five ground balls in the loss (0-6).
