Thomas Jefferson University (Jefferson) and gained a valuable league win with today's 4-3 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) over the Rams. After dropping the doubles point, the Griffins won the first (6-4, 6-3) and third (6-2, 6-1) singles flights before needing the fifth (6-3, 6-3) and sixth (6-3, 7-5) to win the match; freshmen,
Domagoj Dugandzic (Stuttgart, Germany) and
Mark Gladkyy (Franklinville, N.J.) respectively delivered the match-winners.
Jefferson (4-3, 2-3) swept doubles, earning a 6-3 win in the third flight and a 6-4 win in the first flight before closing the round with a 6-3 win in the second flight, 1-0. Juniors,
Tom Pitchley (London, England) and
Kiki Dagneaux (Saint-Gervasy, France) were the first to end their singles matches, giving
Chestnut Hill College (5-3, 4-2) a 2-1 lead with their respective wins in the first (6-4, 6-3) and third (6-2, 6-1) individual flights. The Rams tied the match with a 6-3, 6-4, win at number four singles, 2-2, and regained the advantage with a 6-2, 6-1, win at number four singles, 3-2. Fortunately, the Griffins had one more rally left with Dugandzic taking number five singles 6-3, 6-3, and Gladkyy securing number six singles, 6-3, 7-5.
Chestnut Hill College continues their CACC schedule on Tuesday, April 20, when they visit Dominican College for a 11:30 a.m. dual match.
