Philadelphia, Pa. - (9/14/2021) - Chestnut Hill College (0-1) opened their 2021-2022 season with today's non-conference match versus league-rival, Thomas Jefferson University (Jefferson) (1-0). The Rams took advantage of a short-handed Scarlet and Gold lineup as default wins at number three doubles and number one singles helped the visitors to a 7-0 victory.
In team play, Jefferson added to their default victory with a 6-3 win in the second doubles flight and a 7-5 win at number one doubles; senior
Joseph Gregory Kvint (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) and sophomore
Joao Sousa (Figueira da Foz, Portugal) put forth the effort in the top team flight. Chestnut Hill College saw their best individual effort at number three singles, where Sousa challenged his Ram counterpart to a 6-3, 7-6 (5), final.
Chestnut Hill College visits the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Billie Jean King National Tennis Center this weekend, September 17-20, for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional Championships.Â
