Griffins Split Squad for ITA East Regional Championships and St. Joseph's University Invitational

Queens, N.Y./Philadelphia, Pa. - (9/19/2021) - Chestnut Hill College split their lineup for this weekend's competition as junior Carlota Garcia Arguelles (Madrid, Spain) and sophomore Annika Wise (Canberra, Australia) led a Scarlet and Gold foursome at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional Championships, while sophomores Alani Naje Connor (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) and Lottie Allin (Derby, England) each earned a win in the St. Joseph's University Invitational.

As the #13 player in the ITA East Regional Championships Singles Draw, Garcia Arguelles scored a 0-6, 7-6, 1-0 (7) victory over Adelphi University junior Amanda Franstedt (Stockholm, Sweden) before exiting the tournament with in a 6-2, 6-7, 1-0 (5) loss to Queens College freshman Caroline Hany-Fawzy (Alexandria, Egypt). Meanwhile, Wise won 6-1, 4-6, 10-5 over American International College (AIC) freshman Victoria Azcona (Madrid, Spain), prior to a 6-3, 6-1 loss at the hands of graduate Begona Gomar (Valencia, Spain).

Back in Philadelphia, Connor and Allin both scored wins at another ITA sanctioned event, the St. Joesph University Invitational. Connor defeated Harford Community College's Lily Hottschneider before losing to Loyla University junior Lauren Williamson (Chicago, Ill.) by a 6-4, 6-2 score. Allin bested her teammate, senior Genevieve Wurtz (Jenkintown, Pa.) 6-2, 5-7, 10-6, before she exited the tournament on a 6-2, 6-1 loss to St. Joseph's University senior Paige Conrad (Boca Raton, Fla.).

Chestnut Hill College opens their dual and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedules on Saturday, September 25, when they visit Wilmington University for a 3:00 p.m. opening serve.
