Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

The Lightning Strike for Four Goals as they Shutout the Griffins

All streaks, losing or winning come to an end at some point and such was the case with the Chestnut Hill College Women's Soccer team's six match conference unbeaten streak as they were upended Tuesday afternoon by Goldey-Beacom College 4-0 in Wilmington, Delaware.

The loss dropped the Griffins record to7-4-2 overall and and 4-2-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games.  Chestnut Hill had not lost in conference play since a loss in  their conference opener at Bridgeport and were 4-0-2 in their subsequent six games before Tuesday's loss.  The Lightning improve to 6-6 overall and 4-3 in league play.

A first period goal by GBC's Alyssa Ruggeri was all the hosts needed to secure the win.  The Lightning then added three more goals in the second half.  Ruggeri finished the game with two goals.

The Griffins offense meanwhile struggled against the Lightning defense, getting just five total shots in the first half (three on goal) and just one shot on goal in the second half – finishing the game with four shots on goal and ten shots total.  Madeline Jimenez had four of the ten shots while Rebecca Dalton added two.  The two players also had a shot on goal apiece as did Lauren Sullivan and Abby Galazka,  rounding out the four on goal shots taken.

Kaitlyn Carter took the loss in goal, allowing all four goals while making three saves on the afternoon. GBC's Nikki Cashin earned the win.

The women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, October 15, 2022 for a key road contest at Post University.
