Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Jimenez Scores Tenth Goal of Season as Griffins and Eagles Play to a 1-1 Tie

Madeline Jimenez scored her tenth goal of the season as the Chestnut Hill College women's Soccer team played Post University to a 1-1 draw Saturday afternoon at Lamoy Field in Waterbury, Connecticut.

Jimenez becomes just the second player in program history to record back-to-back ten-goal seasons with the goal, joining 2022 Chestnut Hill College Hall of Fame Inductee Lauren Riiff who scored ten or more goals in each of her four seasons from 2008-2011.

The Griffins improve to 7-4-3 overall and 4-2-3 in Central Atlantic collegiate conference games with the tie.  Post is now 8-6-1 overall and 6-2-1 in league games.

Back and forth action was the norm for much of the first half with both teams getting scoring opportunities.   After Griffins goalkeeper Kaitlyn Carter made her fourth save and punted the ball out, as the Griffins began to push the ball on offense.  A broken play then saw Jimenez get ahead of the field on the left side and drive down towards the net, kicking a shot into the right lower corner at a tough angle from about ten yards out for the score and a 1-0 CHC lead.

The Eagles tied the game at 1-1 with 14 seconds left in the first half on a goal by Imani Young.

The two team teams had opportunities in the second half but neither could break the deadlock as the game finished in a 1-1 tie.

Carter finished the game with nine saves to notch her third tie of the season to go along with seven wins.  Carter is just the second goalkeeper in school history to have at least seven wins and three ties in the same season, joining Krista DeFlaviis who went 8-6-3 in 2006.

Imelda Lazaro had four saves in goal for the Eagles.

The Chestnut Hill College Women's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 for their penultimate regular season home contest, taking on Jefferson University at Victory Field.  Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
