A penalty kick goal was the only score as the Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Jefferson University Tuesday night at Victory Field in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.
The loss drops the Griffins record to 2-10-4 overall and 1-6-3 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. Jefferson improves to 7-4-4 overall and 6-0-4 in league play.
The two teams played a scoreless first half with back-and-forth action for much of the 45 minutes. The scoreless scenario continued into the 59
th minute when Jefferson was awarded a penalty kick which was promptly converted to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.
The one goal was the only blemish on what otherwise a solid night between the pipes for Griffins' goaltender
Eran Shifris. Shifris saved seven shots, five in the first period and was saddled with the loss.
The Griffins totaled seven shots on the night, three of which were on net while the Rams tallied 13 shots, eight on net. The Rams had three corner kicks while the Griffins managed just one, coming with under two minutes left in the game.
The Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team returns to action on Saturday when they travel to face Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, New Jersey.
