Griffins Sweep West Chester in Final Fall Season Match

The Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team concluded the fall portion of their season Wednesday afternoon, defeating West Chester University 7-0 to finish at 3-1 in their four fall matches.

The Griffins started things off by sweeping the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.  Tom Pitchley and Noah Cutting were 6-2 winners at #1 doubles while Joao Sousa and Tiago Lima did not drop a game in the 6-0 win at #2 doubles.  Tono Franquis and Marcello Bozzone completed their sweep with a 6-2 win at #3 doubles.

Cutting gave the Griffins a 2-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Andre Zequiera at #1 singles.  Tobi Michel followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Rami Heiba at T6 singles, making the score 3-0.  Pitchley then clinched the match win with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) win over Felix Weber at #2 singles.

Rounding out the Griffins winners were Lima at #3 singles (6-3, 6-1); Sousa at #4 singles (6-0, 6-4) and Franquis at #5 singles (6-4, 6-1).

The men's tennis team returns to action in February when they open their championship season segment with a match against Loyola University of Maryland on February 25.
