Redhawks Snap Griffins Six-game Unbeaten Streak

The Chestnut Hill College women's soccer team had their six game unbeaten streak snapped Tuesday night as Roberts Wesleyan University handed the Griffins a 2-1 loss at Victory Field in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania

The loss drops the Griffins record to 5-3-2.  The RedHawks improve to 9-1.

The RedHawks scored the first goal of the game with 3:12 left in the first half and added a second goal to go up 2-0 just 2:26 into the second half.  The Griffins continued to attack on offense after the goal, getting several opportunities but were unable to put the ball in the next until late in the game.  Rebecca Dalton and Lauren Sullivan both had two shots on goal with four other players each recording.

On defense the  backline trio of Elizabeth Deal, Molly Killion and Maddie Camillo were stifling the Redhawk offense holding them to just four shots after their second goal, and only one of them on net.

Back on offense, the Griffins finally got on the board when Lizzie Stokes took a free kick from about 25 yards out with 1:04 remaining in the game that flew past Redhawk goalkeeper Nicole Knauf for the score, cutting the lead to 2-1.  Stokes had one more shot in the final seconds but that went wide as Roberts hung on for the win.  Stokes finished the game with two shots on goal and four shots total

Kaitlyn Carter made nine saves on the night on 11 Redhawk shots on goal.  Knauf also had nine saves on ten Griffin shots on goal.

The Griffins had 18 total shots while the Redhawks tallied 16.  Chestnut Hill also had the only four corner kicks in the game.

The women's soccer team returns to action on Thursday, October 6, 2022 when they travel to play Lincoln University.  Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
