Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Griffins Cruise to a 5-0 Win over Lincoln University

Anna Sanverdine scored her first two collegiate goals as the Chestnut Hill College women's Soccer team cruised to a dominating 5-0 victory over host Lincoln University Thursday night in Lincoln University, Pennsylvania.

The Griffins improve to 6-3-2 with the win, equaling their 2021 win total.  Lincoln remains winless at 0-7.

Sanverdine was just a part of a 17-shot onslaught in the first half that saw the Griffins score all five goals in the period. The Griffins put 11 of those 17 shots on net with four different players scoring at least one goal.

Already leading 3-0, Sanverdine entered the game in the 33rd minute and wasted no time, taking a forward pass from Virginia Perry  to get ahead of the defenders and put the ball into the net for her first collegiate goal and a 4-0 griffin lead at the 33:43 mark.

Less than six minutes later Sanverdine struck again, this time heading a ball into to the net following a cross pass from Madeline Jimenez to score the Griffins final goal at the 39:03 mark.

It was Jimenez who got the offensive surge going, taking a throw in and promptly putting it past LU goalkeeper Ida Rose Moore for her ninth goal of the season and a 1-0 Chestnut Hill lead at the 13:36 mark.

Rachel Apsley made it 2-0 with her third goal of the season at the 23:27 mark with Rebecca Dalton getting the assist.  Nearly ten minutes later, Lauren Sullivan added her fifth goal of the season directly off a corner kick at the 32:55 mark.  This was the second time in three games that Sullivan has scored directly off a corner kick.

Kaitlyn Carter and Arielle O'Neal combined for the shutout with Carter earning her sixth win of the season and O'Neal preserving the shutout with three saves in the second half.

The Griffins finished the game with a 25-6 shot advantage (16-3 on goal) and a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The Chestnut Hill College Women's soccer team will return to action on Saturday, October 8, 2022 when they host Caldwell University at Victory Field in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.  Prior to the game the Griffins will recognize four senior players on the team with kickoff following around noon.
