Conor Regan scored a career high 24 points but the Chestnut Hill college Men's Basketball team dropped a non-conference game Monday night to Lock Haven University 67-56 at Sorgenti Arena.
The Griffins fall to 2-3 with the loss while the Bald Eagles improve to 4-1.
Regan connected on nine of 18 shots from the field, including four three point baskets and added a pair of free throws en route to his career high 24 points.Â
MJ Iraldi added 14 points on 6-for-10 shooting from the field. Trey Pitts added 11 points. Iraldi led the team with six rebounds and three assists.
Chestnut Hill never led in the in the contest as the Bald Eagles built a double digit lead in the first half and again in the second after the Griffins had closed within five in the first half and six in the second.
In the opening half, Lock Haven built a 28-15 lead before the Griffins ran off eight straight points to close within five. Pitts opened the run with a layup and Regan followed with a three-point basket. Pitts struck again with another three-point bucket with 4:24 left to make the score 28-23. The Bald Eagles added two baskets and quickly went up by ten 33-23. Regan and Iraldi added baskets to close out the scoring as thew griffins trailed by six at the break 33-27.
The Bald Eagles opened the second half with a 9-2 run to again lead by double-digits 42-29 and increased their lead to 15 15, 50-35. The Griffins followed with a 9-0 run to close within four 50-44 with 9:28 remaining but this would be as close as the Griffins would get as Lock Haven again pushed their lead into double digits down the stretch as they closed out the game 67-56.
The Griffins are back in action on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 when they host California university of Pennsylvania at Sorgenti Arena. Tipoff is set for noon.
