Box Score The Chestnut Hill women's tennis team opened the spring portion of their season on Saturday, playing Division I St. Joseph's university at the Legacy Tennis center in Philadelphia, losing to the Hawks, 6-1.
The Griffins fall to 3-6 with the loss while the Hawks improve to 2-2.
Chestnut Hill's lone point came in the doubles competition as the Griffins captured both the #1 and #2 doubles contests to earn the point. Â
Carlota Garcia Arguelles (Madrid, Spain) and
Romi Meirovich (Herzliya, Israel) teamed up at #1 doubles to defeat stow Weiss and Emily Elliott 6-2. At #2 doubles,
Nele Haag (Tauberbischofsheim, Germany)Â and
Annika Wise (Canberra, Austrailia) defeated Fabiana Tort-Umpiere and Ann Ocasio 7-6 (7-5).
The Griffins dropped all six singles contests following winning the double point.Â
Gianna Vassalluzzo's (Newtown, Pa.) #5 doubles match vs. Ocasio was the closest of the five, needing a second set tiebreaker before falling 0-6, 6-7 (1-7).
The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team returns to action on March 13, 2022 when they travel to play Loyola University of Maryland.
