The Chestnut Hill College men's tennis team opened the spring portion of their season Tuesday afternoon losing to Division I Loyola University 4-3 in Baltimore Maryland.
The Griffins fall to 1-2 with the loss.
Opening the match with doubles competition, the Griffins took the doubles point with wins in all three matches.Â
Noah Cutting and
Mark Gladkyy won their match at #2 doubles 6-0 over Edik Pribitkin and Matt Cardano to open the competition.Â
Tom Pitchley and
Joseph Gregory Kvint then secured the doubles point with a 6-2 win over Skylar Gates and George Cavo at #1 doubles.Â
Domagoj Dugandzic and
Joao Sousa then completed the doubles sweep with a 7-5 win at #3 doubles.
In singles play Duganzic gave the Griffins a 2-0 lead in the match with a a 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8) win over Liam Rompere at #5 singles. The Greyhounds then got on the board at #1 singles as Pitchley lost 6-4, 6-4 to Gates.
Sousa made the score 3-1 with a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7) win over Cavo at #4 singles before the Greyhounds came back with wins at #6 and #3 singles to tie the match at 3-3. Cutting 's match at #2 singles went a full three sets to decide the overall winner as Pribitkin of Loyola triumphed 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 to give Loyola the match win 4-3.
The Chestnut Hill Men's Tennis Team returns home on Saturday, March 19, 2022 for their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener against Dominican College. First serve is set for 12:00 p.m. Â
