The Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team opened the Central Atlantic Collegiate conference portion of their schedule on Sunday, defeating Dominican College 5-2 at the chestnut Hill College Tennis Courts.
The Griffins are now 2-2 overall and 1-0 in CACC matches. Dominican falls to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in league play.
Chestnut Hill opened the match with wins at #3 and #1 doubles. The team of
João Sousa (Figueria da Foz, Portugal) and
Domagoj Dugandzic (Stuttgart, Germany) started things off with a 6-0 win at #3 doubles. After the Chargers won a tight match at #2 doubles, the Griffins' #1 doubles team of
Tom Pitchley (London, England) and
Joseph Gregory Kvint (Huntington Valley, Pa.) defeated Marcus Lee and Anthony Kwok 6-3 to secure the doubles point.
In singles competition,
Noah Cutting (Bury St. Edmonds, England) produced a 6-1, 6-0 win over Lee at #2 singles to give the Griffins a 2-0 lead in the match. Dugandzic followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Skylar ross at #5 singles to make the score 3-0. Sousa then clinched the match for the Griffins with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Tanaka Chabata at #4 singles.
Mark Gladkyy (Vineland, N.J.) made the score 5-0 winning his match at #6 singles, 6-2, 7-5 over Faris Hadir. Dominican scored their only two points with wins at #1 singles and at #3 singles
