The Chestnut Hill college Bowling team dropped both their matches today at the East coast Conference Women's Bowling Championships, eliminating them from competition as their season comes to a close.
The twelfth seeded Griffins opened up the day at the Coram Country Lanes (Coram, N.Y) facing the fourth seed Adelphi university in the round two winners bracket match, falling to the Panthers 4-2.Â
Adelphi took game one 192-166 while the Griffins narrowly won game two 169-168 to even the match at 1-1. The Panthers went ahead with a 217-186 win in game three before the Griffins tied the match again with a 175-148 win in game four. Adelphi closed out the match by winning the next two games 221-180 and 223-182, knocking the Griffins into the elimination bracket to be played later in the day.
Hope Widmer (East Stroudsburg, Pa.) and
Eryn Moore (Bainbridge, Pa.) led the way filling 11 of 12 frames in the match.
Chestnut Hill faced the eleventh seed, Roberts Wesleyan College in the elimination match. The Griffins won the opening game 194-162 before Roberts came storming back, winning the next three 177-133, 198-128 and 215-198. The Griffins won game five 186-138 before falling in the final game 174-155.
Jess Hollabaugh (Folsom, Pa.) was a perfect 12 for 12 in filling frames in the match, leading the way for the Griffins.
In the two best of seven Baker matches on the day, the Griffins averaged 171.08 per game overall. For the tournament, Chestnut Hill averaged 180.58 over 19 baker games in the double elimination rounds.
