The Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team won their fourth consecutive match on Sunday defeating Division I Bucknell University 4-3 at the Hershey Racquet Club in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins improve to 5-2 on the season while Bucknell falls to 4-14.
The doubles team of
Noah Cutting and
Mark Gladkyy opened the match with a 6-0 win over Ink Chen and Per Astrom 6-0 at #2 doubles. The Griffins then secured the doubles point as
João Sousa and
Domagoj Dugandzic defeated Charlie Nordahl and Nicholas Grunig 6-2. Michael Owen and Tim Zelikovsky defeated
Tom Pitchley and
Joseph Gregory Kvint 6-3 at #1 doubles to end the doubles competition.
Moving on to singles,
Kvint gave the Griffins a 2-0 lead with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Grunig at #3 singles and Dugandzic followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Astrom to make the score 3-0.
Bucknell rallied to earn wins at #1 and #2 singles to close the gap to 3-2 before Sousa sealed the win with a 7-6, 6-1 win over Chen at #4 singles. Nordahl earned a three-set win over Gladkyy at #6 singles for Bucknell's final point.
The Chestnut Hill Men's Tennis team returns to action on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 when they host St. Thomas Aquinas college at the CHC Tennis Courts. First serve is at 2:30 p.m.
