The Chestnut Hill College Women's Softball team played their third conference doubleheader of the season on Thursday afternoon, dropping both games to area rival Jefferson university 11-2 and 6-1.

he sweep by the Rams drops the Griffins record to 6-18 overall and 0-6 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play. The Rams improve to 5-9 overall and 4-2 in CACC games.
Jefferson pitcher Gianna DeLorenzo limited the Griffins to just five hits in the opener.Â
Peyton Baldwin (Conshohocken, Pa.) and
Ariana Carreno (Pompano Beach, Fla.) Â each drove in a run in the loss.Â
Jordan Tavarez (Hammonton, N.J.) took the loss in the opener, falling to 0-4 on the season.
The Griffins had seven hits in the 6-1 game two loss, two of them off the bat of
Steph Tonuci (Barrington, N.J.), both of which were infield hits.Â
Anastasia Watson (Claymont, Del.) drove in the Griffins lone run on a sacrifice fly. Â
Madison Petroski (Sicklerville, N.J.) took the loss in game two, falling to 4-7 on the season.
Jefferson jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opener with the Griffins getting on the board in the bottom of the third.Â
Taylor Carter (Fort Washington, Pa.) singled to start the inning, was sacrificed to second and scored on Carreno's single to left field to cut the lead to 3-1
A sacrifice fly by the Rams made the score 4-1 before the Griffins scored in the bottom of the fourth as Baldwin doubled to bring home
Samantha Toro (Brick, N.J.) to cut the lead to 4-2.
The Rams added two more runs in the sixth and scored five times in the seventh to open up an 11-2 lead making a comeback in Chestnut Hill's final at-bat difficult.
In game two, Watson lifted a fly ball to centerfield in the first inning to score Tonuci with the Griffins' lone run. The run tied the game at 1-1 at the time.
The Griffins had another opportunity in the second but left the bases loaded and left two runners on in the fourth. On the other side, the rams added a solo run in the third inning, two more in the fifth and two more in the seventh to round out their scoring.
The Chestnut Hill College Women's Softball team is back in action on Saturday, April 2, 2022 when they host Caldwell University for their fourth CACC doubleheader of the season. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
