The Chestnut Hill College Women Lacrosse team played their first road game of the young season Monday afternoon, losing to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference powerhouse Bloomsburg University, 23-4.

Chestnut Hill falls to 1-1 on the season while Bloomsburg improves to 2-1.

The Griffins were paced by
Frances Vassallo (Hicksville, N.Y.) and
Madyson Schwartz (Philadelphia, Pa.), who scored two goals apiece. Vassallo also contributed one assist. On the defensive end, goalie
Mel Amador (Cape May, N.J.) totaled 19 saves, and
Molly Killion (Philadelphia, Pa.), Elizabeth Bennett (Swedesboro, N.J.), and Danielle Vassallo (Hicksville, N.Y.) all caused one turnover, each. Junior midfielder
Rexney Thenor (Burlington, N.J.) also had a game-high nine draw controls.

The Huskies got off to a hot start, which saw them take an 8-0 lead with four minutes remaining in the first quarter. Schwartz responded with goals late in the first and second quarters, however Bloomsburg continued their impressive play, and took a 15-2 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Bloomsburg's strong defense held the Griffins at bay until 6:33 left in the 4
th quarter, when
Frances Vassallo scored her first. She followed the goal up with another, just two minutes later.

The Huskies totaled 14 goal scorers in the victory, including four from Kate Roberts, and three from Kelsey Clauss.

The Griffins will look to rebound on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 2 P.M., when they travel to Bridgeport, Connecticut to take on the University of Bridgeport.
