The Chestnut Hill College Softball team dropped a pair of games against Georgian Court University Wednesday afternoon, losing the opener, 8-0 before falling in the second game 8-4.
The Griffins fall to 7-31 overall and 1-15 in league play with the losses while the Lions improve to 27-11 overall and a league best 16-2 record.
The Lions held the Griffins to just three hits in the opener with
Madison Petroski (Sicklerville, N.J.) getting to of them. Petroski also took the loss, giving up six runs on six hits in the two innings pitched.
Peyton Baldwin's (Conshohocken, Pa.) double in the second inning of game two scored the Griffins' first run of the afternoon, giving the Griffins an early 1-0 lead. The Lions roared back with eight unanswered runs, three in the bottom of the second and four in the fourth to lead 8-1.
Taylor Carter (Fort Washington, Pa.) led off the top of the fifth inning with a single and later scored the Griffins' second run on an RBI single from
Santina Arena (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to make the score 8-2.
Victoria Grillo (Staten Island, N.Y.) later added a two run double in the seventh to plate the Griffins' final runs of the game.
Grillo finished the game with three hits while
Steph Tonuci (Barrington, N.J.) was one of three Griffins to hit a double along with Baldwin and Grillo.
Jordan Tavarez (Hammonton, N.J.) took the loss pitching three innings and allowing seven runs (four earned).
The Chestnut Hill College softball team returns to action on Saturday, April 23, 2022 when they travel to Rutherford, new Jersey to take on Felician University. First pitch is at 4:30 p.m.
