Arianna Carreno drove in three runs while
Skyler Cunningham added two RBI as the Chestnut Hill college Softball team defeated Felician university 10-6 in game two of their doubleheader to salvage a split of the two games.
Felician won the opener 4-2. The Griffins improve to 8-32 overall with the split and 2-16 in Central Atlantic Collegiate conference games. Felician is now 14-21 overall and 9-11 in league play.
Carreno,
Madison Petroski and
Lily Reid had two hits apiece in the second game with Reid tossing a complete game to earn her third win of the season. Reid allowed six runs (three earned) on 14 hits while striking out one.
Felician limited the Griffins to just three hits in the opener, singles by Carreno, Petroski and Reid, with Reid's first inning hit scoring the Griffins' only two runs of the contest. Petroski took the loss, allowing four runs (one earned) on nine hits while striking out six.
Petroski had one of three doubles by Chestnut Hill batters in the second game along with Reid and
Peyton Baldwin. Baldwin's double was on a bunt in the second inning that caught the Felician fielder's off guard as
Samantha Toro who was on first at the time raced to third and Baldwin raced to second. Toro later scored the tying run and Baldwin the go-ahead run on a fielder's choice. Later that inning, Carreno hit a sacrifice fly to score
Taylor Carter to give the Griffins a 5-3 lead.
Two Golden Falcon errors led to two more Griffin runs in the fourth. Cunningham's infield groundout plated Carreno  to make the score 8-3. Felician scored in the bottom of the fourth to pull within four 8-4.
Carreno added an RBI single in the sixth and Toro an infield groundout to score Reid in the seventh to up the Griffins' lead to 10-4. Felician added two runs in their final at-bat to close back within four before Reid closed the door to get the win.
The Chestnut Hill College Softball team is back in action on Sunday, April 24, 2022 when they travel to take on West Chester University. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
