West Chester University Takes Two From the Griffins

The Chestnut Hill College Softball team lost both games of their doubleheader on Sunday against West Chester University,  10-2 and 11-0 at West Chester University's Softball Field in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

The Griffins fall to 8-34 overall while west Chester improves to 22-20.

Chestnut Hill had two hits in the opener, which led to their two runs in the fifth inning.   Steph Tonuci reached on a fielding error and scored on Madison Petroski's double.  Petroski later scored on Ariana Carreno's single, making the score 9-2 in favor of the Golden Rams at the time.

West Chester's Trisha Kopinetz smashed a one out home run in the sixth inning to end the game via the eight run rule, 10-2.

Petroski took the loss, falling to 5-14 on the season.  She struck out four batters while giving up 13 hits and all ten runs (seven earned).

Jordan Tavarez took the loss in game two, pitching to just five batters in the first inning as West Chester exploded for eight runs in their first at-bat en route to their 11-0 win.

Tonuci had two of the Griffins' six hits in game two.  Two hits, singles by Carreno and Kayla Rolon came in the fourth inning as the Griffins left runners in scoring position.  The Griffins also had two hits in the fifth, singles by Gabrielle O'Byrne and Tonuci, which put runners at the corners with one out before the next two Chestnut Hill batters flied out to end the game.

The Griffins return to action on Monday, April 25, 2022 when they travel to face Holy Family University.  First pitch is at 2:00 p.m.
