Thomas Jefferson University banged out 22 hits as they handed the Chestnut Hill College Baseball team a 17-7 loss in the first game of a critical three game series Wednesday night at Hostelley field in North Wales, Pennsylvania.
The loss drops the Griffins record to 18-21 overall and 9-11 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. Chestnut Hill falls three games behind Jefferson (12-8 in CACC play) in their bid for a spot in the upcoming CACC Championship Tournament with four conference games remaining, two of them against Jefferson on Sunday.
Jefferson scored six runs in their first two at-bats before the Griffins got on the board with a solo home run by
John Contoudis (Jenkintown, Pa.) in the bottom of the second inning and added three more in the third on
Corbin Dunnuck's (Mohnton, Pa.) three run home run to close the deficit to two 6-4.

Pat Woltemate (Philadelphia, Pa.) brought home the seventh Jefferson run in the fourth inning. In the bottom half of the inning,
Justin Geiger (Philadelphia, Pa.) hit Chestnut Hill's third home run of the game, a two-run shot with nobody out to pull the Griffins within one 7-6.
The Rams chased Woltemate with three more runs in the fifth inning to take a 10-6 lead. The senior hurler struck out five and walked one over his five innings pitched. TJU's Chris McLean hit a solo home run in the sixth to make the score 11-6.
Greg Sylvester (Trevose, Pa.) hit an RBI double to centerfield in the bottom half of the sixth inning, scoring
R.J. Huth (Fairless Hills, Pa.)with the Griffins final run of the game, making the score 11-7. Efrain Santiago and Lucas DeStefano both hit two-run home runs as the Rams tacked on six more runs in the final three innings to make the final score 17-7.
The Griffins return to action on Saturday, April 30, 2022 when they travel to take on Post University for a doubleheader in Waterbury Connecticut.
