Andrew Dietz had three hits and became the Chestnut Hill college Baseball team's all-time hit leader Tuesday night as the Griffins lost their final game of the season 17-10 to Kutztown University at Hostelley Field in North Wales, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins finished their season with a 20-24 record. Kutztown improves to 11-34.
Dietz (Warrington, Pa.) entered the game with 183 career hits, two shy of
Ameir Uzzell's career hit record of 185 set last season with a home run in the CACC playoffs vs. Jefferson. Singles in the third and fourth innings brought his total to 185, tying Uzzell. He eclipsed the mark on his next at-bat in the seventh inning as he belted a home run over the right field fence for hit number 186. The home run was his eighth of the season, a new single season mark.
Connor Evans (Hermitage, Pa.) also had three hits in the game, raising his batting average to a league leading .440 and setting a new Griffins single season mark in the process. Dietz raised his average to .424 and ranks second in the league behind Evans. This season marks the first time that two Chestnut Hill players hit over .400 in a single season. Evans and Dietz are also only the fifth and sixth players in program history to hit .400 or better in a single season.
Will Shaffer (Sicklerville, N.J.) took the loss for the Griffins, finishing the year with a 2-2 record. Shaffer pitched 4+ innings, allowing nine runs (four earned) while striking out three.

Nate O'Donnell (Hatfield, Pa.).
Kutztown took the lead with a six-run third inning, capped by a Brian Finn three-run home run. The next inning, the Griffins retook the lead, scoring four times to go out in front 8-6
. Rocco Stark (Lock Haven, Pa.) reached on an error with nobody out to score
Corbin Dunnuck (Mohnton, Pa.), who led off with a double with the first run of the inning. A double play led to the second run before
John Contoudis (Jenkintown, Pa.) belted a triple to right field to bring home the third run for a 7-6 Griffin lead. Dietz followed with a single to score Contoudis with the final run of the inning.
The Golden Bears scored three times in the fifth and added single runs in the sixth and seventh to take an 11-8 lead. Dietz's home run in the seventh cut the lead to 11-9 and Dunnuck delivered a sacrifice fly to pull the Griffins within one 11-10.
Six more Kutztown runs in the eighth, capped off with a Gavin Moretski three run home run put the game out of reach, 17-10.
The Griffins went down in order in the eighth and ninth innings as their season came to a close.
