Queens College spoiled the Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer Team's season opener Wednesday night as they defeated the Griffins 2-1 in Flushing, New York.
The Griffins are now 0-1 to start the season. Queens improves to 2-1.
Aiden McShane (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored the lone goal for the Griffins, putting a shot past Knights' goalkeeper Dario Cruz in the 71
st minute.
Stephen Connor (Riverton, N.J.) made eight saves in goal for the Griffins, allowing two first half goals.
Queens opened the scoring in the 34
th minute and took a 2-0 lead on a penalty kick at the 40:01 mark.
The scored remained 2-0 until McShane took a pass from
A.J. McIntyre (Hanover, Jamaica) and shot and found the upper left corner of the net at the 70:20 mark to close the gap to 2-1. It was just the Griffins third shot on goal of the game.
Chestnut Hill finished the game with four total shots all on goal. Queens finished the game with 14 shots, ten of which were on goal.
The Chestnut Hill College Men's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, September 3, 2022 when they host Millersville University at victory field in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania. Kick off is set for 1:00 p.m.
