The Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team opened conference play Saturday night with a 4-1 loss at the University of Bridgeport at Knights Field in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
The Griffins fall to 0-3-1 overall with the loss and 0-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. Bridgeport improves to 1-0 in league play and 2-2-1 overall.
Juan Ortiz (Cali, Colombia) scored for the second consecutive game to account for the Griffins' lone score in the contest. It is also the third consecutive game that Ortiz has had a goal or an assist. His tally came just 3:32 into the game off a free kick from the top of the box that found the right corner of the net.
Bridgeport tied the game at 1-1 just three minutes later and took 2-1 lead in the 9
th minute. The Purple Knights added two goals in the second half to complete their scoring.
Connor McGrogan (Langhorne, Pa.) faced six shots on goal in his first NCAA Division II start, recording two saves.Â
Juan Molina (Gaithersburg, Md.) had three of the Griffins' shots on goal while Ortiz and
George Katsiotis (Cinnaminson, N.J.) had one apiece.
The Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team returns home for their next game, hosting Wilmington University on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
