The Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team opened the fall portion of their season Saturday afternoon holding off a tough Kutztown University squad to earn a 4-3 victory.
The Griffins started the match off by winning their first two doubles contests to secure the doubles point.Â
Noah Cutting (Bury St. Edmonds, England) and
Tiago Lima (Sao Paolo, Brazil) earned a 6-2 win at #1 doubles while
Tono Franquis (Santa Cruz de Tenarife, Spain) and
Tobi Michel (Robhaupten, Germany) scored an identical 6-2 win at #2 doubles to give the Griffins a 1-0 lead.
Cutting made it 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Joaquin Perez at #1 singles. Franquis followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win at #3 singles giving the Griffins a 3-0 lead. A win by the Golden Bears at #2 singles cut the score to 3-1 before Michel clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Sebastian Arizpe at #4 singles for the Griffins fourth win of the match. The Golden Bears captured the final two matches to make the score 4-3.
The Chestnut Hill college Men's Tennis Team returns to action on Monday, September 12, 2022 when they travel to face Bloomsburg University.
