The Chestnut Hill College Women's Soccer team opened up conference play with a hard fought 8-0 loss to perennial region powerhouse University of Bridgeport Saturday afternoon in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
The Griffins fall to 1-2 overall and o-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate conference games while Bridgeport improves to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in league play.
Bridgeport scored three times in the first half and added five more in the second half. UB's Kate Thrill scored three goals to pace the Purple Knights offense.
Kaitlyn Carter (Philadelphia, Pa.) and
Arielle O'Neal (Mount Holly, N.J.) shared time in goal for the Griffins and made some fantastic saves throughout the game. Carter recorded eight saves while O'Neal notched two.  Offensively the Griffins struggled for shots with
Lauren Sullivan (Philadelphia, Pa.) and
Kayla Dougherty (Williamstown, N.J.) recording the only two shots for the Griffins with Dougherty's shot landing on goal.
The Chestnut Hill College Women's Soccer Team returns home for their next game, hosting Wilmington University on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
