Kaitlyn Carter was perfect in net and
Madeline Jimenez provided all the offense the Chestnut Hill College Women's Soccer team needed as they went on to defeat host Saint Thomas Aquinas College 3-0 Wednesday afternoon at Spartan Field in Sparkill, New York.
Â
The Griffins improve to 3-2-1 with the win. The Spartans fall to 1-6.
Carter stopped all five shots on goal from the Spartans enroute to her second shutout of the season. Â Â Jimenez wasted little time in scoring her third goal of the season, chipping in a shot from about 25 yards out after the goalkeeper turned the ball over giving the Griffins a 1-0 lead just 45 seconds into the contest.
Taking the 1-0 lead into the second half, the Griffins struck again just 7:11 into the period with
Lauren Sullivan scoring off a free kick in the 52
nd minute of play to make the score 2-0.Â
Rebecca Dalton added an insurance goal in the 82
nd minute. While in front of the net, Dalton took a pass from Sullivan who was on the win and put it past STAC goalkeeper Colleen Stevens for the final score in the 3-0 win.
Sullivan finished the game with six total shots (two of them on goal) while Jimenez placed three of her four shots on goal. The Griffins finished the contest with 14 total shots and eight shots on goal.Â
STAC also had 14 total shots but placed just five on goal, all of which were stopped by Carter.Â
