Griffins Each Win at Least One Match at ITA East Regionals

Box Score All four members of the Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team won at least one match (either singles or doubles) as the team participated in the ITA East Region Tennis Championships at the U.S. Open Complex in Flushing, New York over the weekend.

Alison Isaac led the way, winning her first two matches in singles competition before bowing out in the round of 32.  Isaac also went 1-1 in doubles while teamed with Nele Haag.   Carlota Garcia Arguelles and Annika Wise also went 1-1 in the doubles competition.

Isaac opened the competition with an 8-2 win over Carolina Chaves of Adelphi in her first singles match on Thursday and later defeated Frida Rubio of Daemen, 6-3, 6-3 to advance to Friday's competition.

On Friday, Isaac lost to Caroline Hany-Fawzy of Queens College, 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8) in a tight match. 

Isaac and Haag defeated Mariana Ling and Lilly Schmidt of Queens in their first round doubles match 8-1 before falling to Ana Platisa and Lira Loria of Franklin Pierce University 8-1.  Wise and Garcia Arguelles defeated Carmelle Vial and Alva Norberg of Wilmington University  9-8 (14-12) in their first round doubles match before falling to Katarina Liedback and Amanda Franstedt of Adelphi 8-4 in the round of 32.

Garcia Arguelles earned a bye into the round of 64 before losing a heartbreaker to Schmidt of Queens 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 1-0 (10-6).   Haag also lost a tight match in the first round as Alyssa Rodriguez of the University of New Haven prevailed 9-8 (9-7).  Wise lost to Fiona Pepper from LeMoyne College, 8-2.

The Chestnut Hill College Women's Tennis team returns to action on Wednesday September 28, 2022 when they host Post University at the CHC Tennis Courts.  First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
