Ortiz Scores Lone goal in 1-1 Tie with Tigers

Juan Ortiz scored just 73 seconds into the game as the Chestnut Hill College Men's soccer team came away with a 1-1 tie against Holy Family university Wednesday evening at Tiger Field in northeast Philadelphia.

The Griffins are now 1-5-3 overall and 1-2-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games.  Holy Family is 5-4-1 overall and 3-1-1 in league play following the tie.

Ortiz got open early, taking a pass from A.J. McIntyre and put the ball past Tiger goalkeeper Luke Shank for an early 1-0 lead.

The Tigers got the equalizer less than ten minutes later on a Gavin Rowan score.

Griffins' goalkeeper Stephen Connor finished the game with eight saves.  Jorge Mendez had the only other shot no goal for the Griffins.

The Tigers meanwhile had nine shots on goal.

The Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team returns to action on Saturday, October 1, 2022 when they travel to face Felician University in Rutherford, New Jersey.  Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
