Amir Warrick led three players in double figures as the Chestnut Hill College Men's Basketball team won their second straight conference game, defesting host Georgian Court University 75-64 Tuesday night at the GCU Wellness Center in Lakewood, New Jersey.
The Griffins improve to 10-8 overall and 5-3 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Lions fall to 9-8 overall and 5-3 in league play.
Warrick connected on ten of 16 shots from the field and added five free throws en route to a season high 25 points.Â
James Rider IV added 12 points while
Nigel Haughton notched a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.Â
Trevonn Pitts led the team with a game high 11 rebounds while
Conor Regan added nine. Regan also led all players with four blocks on the night.Â
Noah Charles had five assists.
The Griffins never trailed in the contest as they opened the game with six straight points, all from Warrick. The Lions closed within one 11-10 before the Griffins produced an 11-5 run to take their biggest lead of the half at 22-15 with 6:55 left. Georgian court clawed back within  one three more times in the final four minutes before a step back jumper from Rider gave the Griffins a 30-27 lead to take into the locker room at halftime.
A 9-0 Chestnut Hill run to open the second half put some distance between themselves and the Lions with a 39-27 lead just 2:15 into the half. Two minutes later, the Lions had the lead down to five but the Griffins again pushed the lead back to double figures and led by ten 57-47 with 7:40 remaining. Seven straight points from the Lions followed as they made it a one possession game 54-54 with 5:40 left in regulation. GCU again closed within one 61-60 with 2:17 remaining before a Regan put back started a 10-0 run by the Griffins giving them a 71-60 lead with just 31 seconds left. Haughton sealed the win with four free throws in the final 21 seconds.
The Griffins outshot the Lions 41.2% (28-68) to 37.1% (26-70) with the Lions however making six three-point baskets to the Griffins' four. Chestnut more than doubled up Georgian Court on the free throw line, converting 15 of 17 attempts while the Lions made just six of nine. CHC also dominated on the glass, outrebounding the Lions 47-40 and also committed just eight turnovers.

The men's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, January 21, 2023 when they travel to face Felician University in Rutherford, New Jersey. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
