Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Nationally Ranked Eagles Defeat Griffins

The Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team  battled with nationally ranked Post University Saturday afternoon but the Eagles defense proved to be tough to overcome as they limited the Griffins to just seven shots on the afternoon and came away with a 3-1 win.

Chestnut Hill falls to 3-6-1 overall and 2-4 in Central Atlantic collegiate conference games.  The eagles, ranked #11 in the most recent United Soccer coaches Division II poll remain undefeated in conference play at 7-0 and improve to 8-1-3 overall.

The game was scoreless until the 39th minute when Post's Aritz Uriate headed a shot in past CHC goalkeeper Eran Shifris for a 1-0 lead.  The Eagles then took the 1-0 lead into halftime.

The Griffins got the equalizer from Abdoulaye Kamagate in the 60th minute.  Kamagate's goal was the first goal by the Griffins against the Eagles since the 2015 season, in a game they won 1-0.

Post's Gentian Selemi added the go-ahead score in the 63rd minute with Uriate scoring his second goal with one second left as the ball got by Shifris who was out of the net, making an effort to get the ball and get it to a teammate in an effort to tie the game in the final seconds.

For the game the Eagles outshot the Griffins 11-7 (8-2 on goal) and took three corner kicks to the Griffins one (all in the first half for both teams).

Shifris finished with five saves on the afternoon.  Post Goalkeeper Soren Jensen had one save.

The Griffins' men's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, October 18 when they travel to face Wilmington University in Newark, Delaware.  Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
