The Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team dropped a tough 2-0 decision to region-ranked Wilmington University Wednesday afternoon at the WU Athletic complex in Newark, Delaware.
The Griffins fall to 3-7-1 overall and 2-5 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference games. The Wildcats, ranked eighth in the most recent United Soccer Coaches East Region poll, improve to 6-4-3 overall and 2-4-1 in league play.
The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead in the 38
th minute on a goal by Troy Paul. Paul added a second goal in the 49
th minute to round out the scoring.
Eran Shifris had ten saves in net for the Griffins.
Chestnut Hill recorded all four of their shots on goal following Paul's second goal.Â
Juan Ortiz got the Griffins first shot on net at the 65
th minute.Â
Malik Palmer, Abdoulaye Kamagate and
Santiago Linares also added shots on goal.
The Griffins also had seven corner kicks in the second half and finished the game with a 9-4 corner kick advantage. The Wildcats had the advantage in total shots taken 19-9 (12-4 on target).
The Men's Soccer team returns to action on Saturday, October 21, 2023, when they host Felician University at victory field. Kickoff is set for noon.
