Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tigers Get by Griffins, 1-0

An early goal by Holy Family University proved to be all the offense they needed as they defeated the Chestnut Hill College Women's soccer team 1-0 Monday night at Victory field in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.

The Griffins fall to 5-5-2 overall and 4-3-1 in Central Atlantic collegiate Conference games.  The Tigers improve to 5-5-3 overall and 4-2-3 in league play.

Holy Family's Maura Kilkenny launched a long high shot from about 30 yards out that sailed past Griffins' goalkeeper Ellie Stratz just three minutes into the game for the only goal of the contest.  The Tigers added seven more shots before the half ended with two of them saved by Stratz.

Chestnut Hill's defense held the Tigers to just two shots, both on goal in the second half to keep the game within reach.  The Griffin offense however struggled to put together any offensive threat with just two shots on goal of their own, both saved by the Tigers goalkeeper.

Stratz finished the game with four saves.

For the game, the Tigers had a slim 10-9 lead in shots taken and shots on goal (5-3).   The Griffins had four corner kicks to the Tigers three.

The women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday October 28, 2023 with a game at Dominican University.  Kickoff is set for 12 noon.
