Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball Team Sweeps Bloomsburg

Rachel Mace and Erika Dubosky combined for 31 kills as the Chestnut Hill College Women's volleyball team swept Bloomsburg University 3-0 Tuesday night at Sorgenti Arena.

The Griffins improve to 9-12 overall while the Huskies fall to 7-14.

Chestnut Hill won the first two sets with identical 25-18 scores, leading both frames wire-to-wire  .  The Griffins completed the sweep with a 25-17 win in the third set.
Mace recorded 17 kills on the night with just two attack errors in 27 attempts (.556 attack percentage).  Dubosky added 14 kills.  Mia Caporellie served five aces and had 40 assists setting the Chestnut Hill offense.

Mace added 14 digs for her tenth double double of the season.  Natalie Albin had 13 digs while Caporellie narrowly missed another double-double with nine digs.
Chestnut Hill scored the first four points of the match in the opening set before the Huskies went on an 8-5 run to close within one 9-8.  The one-point margin would be the closest score of the set as the Griffins countered with a 10-4 rally to lead by seven 19-12 en route to the 25-18 win.

A 5-2 opening flurry by the Griffins, capped by a kill from Pamela Uceta started the second set.  Back-to-back kills from Dubosky extended the score to 10-5.  Chestnut Hill expanded their lead to 12, 20-8 with a 10-3 run with a kill from Torrin Kelley capping the run which saw five different players record at least one kill.  Bloomsburg made a late run as they tried to come back but the Griffins held off their opponent for the 25-18 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.

The third set saw six ties and three lead changes before the Griffins took the lead for good with four straight points midway through the set giving the home team a 13-9 advantage.  The Huskies would stay within striking range until another four point run from the Griffins essentially put the set out of reach with Chestnut Hill opening up a 21-14 advantage before scoring on four of the next seven rallies to complete the sweep with a 25-17 win.

The women's volleyball team is back in action on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, when they host Jefferson University in a key Central Atlantic collegiate Conference south Division match.  Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
